The 10 Avatars of Lord Vishnu — A Symbolic Journey of Evolution
The Dashavatara, the ten principal incarnations of Lord Vishnu, can also be viewed symbolically as a progression from simple aquatic life toward increasingly evolved human consciousness.

So, when interpreted symbolically, the Dashavatara presents not merely a succession of Divine incarnations, but a remarkable movement from biological evolution toward the evolution of human consciousness.
*Different Hindu traditions give different lists for the ninth avatar; – the truth is that on the Agnya Chakra Level – we have Shri Buddha, Shri Jesus Christ and Shri Mahavir – so the Avatar aspect of 9th Vishnu Avatar is spread over 3 major religions – Buddhism, Christianity and Jainism.
